Just Who Are the Supreme Court Justices?

All this news coverage about the Supreme Court lately has made me realize I am really ignorant about who these people are. I don’t even know all of their names, let alone anything about them. So, in case you’re a little fuzzy too, here is a quick rundown of the current supreme court justices.

John G. Roberts is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He is 57 years old, married and has two children. He was born in Buffalo, New York, and was appointed to the court in 2005.

Antonin Scalia is 76 years old, married and has nine children. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and was appointed to the court in 1986.

Anthony M. Kennedy is 75 years old, married and has three children. He was born in Sacramento, California, and was appointed to the court in 1988.

Clarence Thomas is 63 years old, married and has one child. He was born in Pin Point, Georgia, and was appointed to the court in 1991.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 79 years old, married and has two children. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was appointed to the court in 1993.

Stephen G. Breyer is 73 years old, married and has three children. He was born in San Francisco, California, and was appointed to the court in 1994.

Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr., is 61 years old, married and has two children. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and was appointed to the court in 2006.

Sonia Sotomayor is 57 years old, was born in Bronx, New York, and was appointed to the court in 2009.

Elena Kagan is 51 years old, was born in New York, New York, and was appointed to the court in 2010.
