Mega Millions: What Do You Do With $290 Million?

I saw reports that the Mega Millions jackpot has reached $290 million dollars tonight! Can you imagine that much money ending up with just one person? What in the world would you do with it all? I realize there would be a lot of it you wouldn't get because of taxes, but it's still over $200 million you have to figure out how to invest and spend.

I realize I am in the minority here, but I just can't imagine suddenly being in charge of a bigger budget that many companies...and maybe even some small nations! That's an awful lot of responsibility for just one person to take on, especially someone who may never have had two nickels to rub together up until the big windfall.

You would definitely need to get some reliable financial advice, but how would you even know where to turn for that? I would become one big bundle of paranoia if I suddenly had that much to manage (and to possibly lose). It would be next to impossible for me to figure out who to trust and who to keep at arm’s length.

Fortunately, I'm not going to have to deal with all these issues, because I never play the lottery anyway. All I know is that while most people will be congratulating the winner, I'm afraid I'll be offering my sympathies. I sure hope whoever ends up with it all is ready for the tremendous load they will be inheriting. That is much more pressure and responsibility than I am equipped to handle, that's for sure!
