The Story of Michael Oher Still Inspiring Many

I am sure you remember the excellent movie called The Blind Side? It starred Sandra Bullock, and she ended up winning an Oscar for her outstanding performance. You may recall that Michael Oher was the real-life inspiration behind that movie. I remember being so touched and inspired by its  powerful message.

Collins Tuohy is the real daughter in the family Michael ended up living with, and I ran across a story today about a fundraiser coming up at which she will be speaking. It is the Sunrise Sunset Gala that will be held in Tennessee. Apparently, Tuohy often gives inspirational speeches about her brother, Michael Oher.

Tuohy works on behalf of the Making It Happen Foundation, which works to change the lives of children. She serves on their board and speaks to groups of students about how Michael Oher changed her family when he came into their lives. I think it is wonderful that she is continuing to spread this inspirational message with the world.

There were so many quotes from Collins Tuohy in this article that moved me like this one, “The most important thing that I want people to take away from my message is that it is a little bit about the power of one.” However, the one quote that I especially loved was this, "One person can’t necessarily change the world, but you can definitely change the world for one person." What a beautiful and true sentiment. I think these are truly words to live by.
